There’s 2 parties in this sham of a Democracy. That’s just one more party than in North-Korea.

Both parties are controlled by Big Money.

One party brazenly courts the uneducated and the rich, the other is courting the poor and the intellectuals.

This is not to say that some Big Money is not used as a tool to improve social services, e.g. health and education.

Uncritical thinking is the real global virus. It serves the Rich and Powerful well. It allows them to control the people. A two-party system keeps the people confused, dependent, insecure and too busy to pay the bills or too depressed to figure out what’s going on. No wonder the people express their confusion bleating absurd and self-contradicting QAnon conspiracy theories. The People are gaslighted by the Rich and Powerful. The 2 political parties and the media with their all-consuming need for attention makes them the perfect gaslighting tools. Many players in politics and in the media do not play this game out of malice. None of them goes out of their way to mislead their audience on purpose. The system, the jobs, the funding, the salaries all depend on audience-size and so people simply do their jobs. The people gets gaslighted as a result because they are not equipped with the critical thinking skills to deal with the noise.

Better functioning democracies have multiple political parties and stronger institutions than the US and have included critical thinking into their educational curriculae.
