Playing down pandemic risk.
A new virus brings bigger risks than we are told.
Let us ignore those who do not, and will not, accept any evidence of any virus and prefer to attribute, without evidence, a virus to ‘hidden dark powers’.
We know that these people put their own unsubstantiated beliefs above the terrible consequences of their behaviour. They ignore the extra pressure that their behaviour puts on the health-system and on the people who do their utter best to save lives and people who depend on health-services.
That they put their own lives at risk is their privilege, that they put the lives of others at risk is criminal.
The pressure that the pandemic puts on health-systems means that people with other medical needs are put at risk too because of a lack of hospital beds and of doctors who are re-directed to deal with Covid emergencies. It is sad that a small group of ignorants can cause so much pain, suffering and death.
It is something that ignorance and terrorism have in common.
It takes many to build a city, it takes few to destroy it. It must be said, that this holds also true for the very small group of ultra-rich (one of them now an ex-President) who can influence governments, not just for the ignorant and the politically — power — motivated terrorists.
