Make it 70 years.

Boomers in the West (I am one) have experienced nothing but opportunity, growth and wealth. We exploited all of it at the expense of next generations. We will also make sure that the wealth you inherit will be worth nothing and that you live in a scorched earth with your cognitive dissonance thanks to the entitlement to ‘normal’ that we implanted in your head. For still today, we don’t realise how lucky and shortsighted we were to profit from raping and pillaging the earth, the poor and you, dear next generations.

That period was not normal. History’s regression to the mean is normal and, this exceptional period of opportunity and growth (or rape and pillage if you will) is ti be followed by a period of pain and contraction. Pain made more incisive as you can’t rhyme your sense of entitlement with decreasing opporrunities and well-being in an increasingly hostile world. A world plagued by extreme weather, shortages, new viruses, rising water levels, pollution,….

For sure we left you some pills that help you cope.

We, the boomers, are checking out, after our fantastic ride, but not after having taught you that this ride, that got us to where you are, is the norm and that you deserve the same. Now go and cleanup.

But guess what dear next generation? You would have done the same. You are human.
