Just like my grandfather didn't see anything wrong with using the n-word, "well, he is one isn't he?" and "I don't mean it in a degrading way", a good friend of mine doesn't understand that when she addresses any person of Asian descent as "little chinaman" this is condescending. "Oh no, not at all, I mean it in a kind, affective way, I say it because I love the little chinaman". A grown man, husband and father of 2 teenagers running his own business is like all the other asians just "a little chinaman", you know, cute like a puppy. Should we forbid the usage of language? I guess it depends. As a friend, you can't (but you can address it), as an organisation you can.
