If alarmism is wrong, then why do cars, homes and governments have alarm-installations? Why do we shout when we are attacked?

Isn't sounding the alarm necessary for survival? Isn't it one of the most important tools of all living creatures for preventing disaster?

How would we feel if our governments were unable to sound the alarm in case of, let's pick a nation at random, Russia, attacking our country? Those arguing in favour of such a warning system were just 'alarmists'?

I think the term 'alarmists' was launched by the fossil fuel industry, and their dependent industries and investors, to frame the conclusions of the climate-science body, as a political scare-tactic. The same happened with acid rain, ozon-depletion, tobacco, over-fishing and more. All this does, is make the problem bigger and more costly. But the costs are spread out over the world. The profits stay within the small club.

Oh, I hear you say, but we solved that acid rain, ozone, etc, didn't we? Yes, at large expense, much larger then if we had solved it when the alarm was first sounded. And, here's the kicker: Climate change and ecological destruction are factors more complex and the solutions are antithetical to human instincts. This gives political 'leaders' a great opportunity to take this really difficult situation away, by simply calling it 'not a big issue' or 'a hoax' and present the nice-sounding story that so many people prefer to believe: God will take care of us, I will take care of everything, trust me,... it's just alarmism by the radical left, communists, socialist, fascists, BLM, scientists, antifa, pronouns, FBI, Hunter Biden, etc.

'Alarmism' is a tool for those who profit from the businesses whilst making the world shoulder the costs of the global degradation that these businesses cause. The elite takes the profits, the tax-payers can pick-up the bill for the clean-up. Unfortunately that bill is larger than any tax revenue, and the problem will keep growing for a generation or more, even if we are to act now (which we don't).

We ignore science, the best tool in the universe when we call it 'alarmism'.

I suppose that when the nuclear alarm goes off, our governments should ignore that , and when your burglar alarm goes off, police should ignore that too. Alarmism.

The facts are alarming. That's when we sound the alarm. That is not 'alarmism'.
