I sometimes still feel a strong urge to eat meat. I do not give in to that urge, because of the animal and environmental suffering it entails, but on very rare occasions I do give in. On those rare occasions I make the effort to pay more for the meat of an animal that has had a good life.
It’s not perfect, I know, but if everyone started having meat once a month instead of daily (or even just started to eat it a little less than we do today), the world would be a better one.
In capitalist-consumerist societies we want more for less, we forget that the truly worthy things in life require effort.
