Apparently the Republic is not safe at all, even without Trump. The democratic institutions are so weak that a simpleton authoritarian can be elected, lie to the People without consequences and change or dismantle the instutions meant to keep democracy safe from the tyrants. Fortunately for the People there’s the 2nd Amendment…oh dear me, the people with arms support the tyrant, ouch! Ah well, wasn’t much of a democracy in the first place anyway.
