…there isn’t one

Hitler is associated with delusion, war and murder on the greatest scale. He lost the war and killed himself. There are no statues of Hitler. There are no Nazi- or SS-bars in the US.

Stalin is associated with delusion, war and murder on the greatest scale. He won the war (with the Brits and Americans) against Hitler. There are statues of Stalin in Russia and Eastern Europe (a bust of Stalin was even briefly erected in 2010 in Bedford, Virginia, USA ). The KGB bar is located on 85 E 4th St, New York.

Those who win the war have a lot to say about which statues are maintained/erected. It doesn’t stand to reason that Americans, Russians and Europeans would want to celebrate Hitler. After coming to terms with what had happened, Germans, even more so than Americans and Russians, abhor Hitler and what he represents. No reasonable person would want a statue or monument in his honor. Stalin more or less escaped such condemnation because he won the war against ‘evil’. Stalin was a terrible tyrant, not unlike Hitler, causing millions of deaths, but he happened to fight on the ‘good side’ and he remained in power, hence: statues of Stalin exist, but none of Hitler.

Slave-owning secessionists fought against the United States, against abolition and lost. Yet the winner, The United States, keeps honoring the losing Confederate fighters like General Lee and General Bragg, with statues and military academies named after them.

The Confederates fought against the US to keep slavery and lost the war.

The United States wins the war, abolishes slavery and… honors the Confederates!

Maybe, in the same vein, the current administration might consider to erect a statue for Hitler, another vanquished adversary on the wrong side of history.
