3 centuries after the enlightenment, some legislators start to think that maybe the greatest national resource should be developed all the way and not just a small portion.

The greatest potential resides in every citizen's way they use their brain. This potential is independent of riches, skin-color, religion, gender, etc. The more the citizens think well, the better the nation fares.

But yes there's always a group of psychopathic politicians and their elitist donors, ready to play on the basic instincts instead of reaching for the higher goals. A small group of fanatics is easy to lead: just reflect their grievances. The fanatics will get their guns before the inteligencia understand that, these fanatics don't think and feel like us.

We should have had critical thinking imbued in all our education systems (like in Finland). But the elites blinded by their position prefer to keep things as they are,, so they are not going to argue for introducing quality-thinking throughout our schooling system: give them citizens guns, football, the Kardashians, fear and hate.
